Just met up with one of the people who wanted to be friends from the whole speed dating thing. Had 3 hours of great, random and rambling conversation. It was brilliant. This is what I miss- I have loads of great friends, but most of them I only see at weekends right now, and then we're all involved in games and stuff, so it's not quite the same, as I'm focussed on the reason we're all there.

I want more random weekday evening "just hang out somewhere and chat/watch films/lounge".

Pool is also good, though you may have to teach them/learn how to play yourself. It's nice, cause it doesn't stop you from carrying on a conversation but it means that you don't have to be constantly talking either.

I've found it also works for dates/nights out with a more relationship-orientated bent. Especially if they don't know how to play.
