As today is not in any way unusual, I declare a game of Mornington Crescent.

Whilst shunts are allowed, straddles do not count on odd-numbered days, and the foxtrot is not a valid dance style.

Anyway, to begin (and I know this is a little left-field):

Oxfird Circus, yesterday

Oxfird Circus? That's an opening I've not seen since 1998.

I'll jump along to Tottenham Court Road.
We'll now have to randomise the Northern Line and chance a double shunt.

Hmm... Tricky, but unless I'm wrong, and the Third Octern is not in play, Highgate.

If we're playing by the Plomary Downs Amendment of 1953, however, it would have to be East Finchley, a rather forced move, but I have few options.

I apologise for my uncertainty on the version fo the rules you're playing with, but I can't for the life of me remember whether or not the standard lj rules include the PDA.

Gosh, I wish you'd make your mind up!

Seeing as it's a Friday, and still September, better say Willesdon Junction to be on the safe side.

Ruling please, is that move legal?

doesn't matter if it's legal or not...

given that there is an e in the month, the only possible answering move is Russell Square.

Thus I declare a double hookey.

Interesting, I hadn't noticed that one, and a double hookey to boot. Still, it allows me to swing off from the Pickadilly to Central lines by employing Hodgkinson's Roundel, and find myself at Marbel Arch and hopefully fairly well positionned for a follow up. Especially as the Roundel denies shunts for the next three overs.

Hah-HAH! Thwarted you Matthew!

No shunts, eh? Hmmm... Well, while we're on the Central, better go and visit [livejournal.com profile] stonefox84's old haunting grounds by alighting at Ealing Broadway.

Sudbury Hill, based on the lateness of the hour and last week's Peppermint Alterations.

I think that opens the board of play up a little, but we'll have to see how it goes...

I am far too inexperienced in your modern modes of transport being a dim Northerner, but this tickled me pink, glad to see it alive and well somewhere.

I've got no idea how to play so i'll fudge it!

Assuming that I have an all day railcard I could end up anywhere so i'll pop into White City because it's there...

Well.........

I thought using about the standard White City to Tooting Bec move but, as you'd be expecting that and a Hookey is in play, it's got to be Warren Street (Anyone want to try a Northern Line Crosshatch ?)

I'm shocked that it's a legal move, even more so that it's considered a standard!
(I wonder if you can change at Victoria or St Pancras and go national...)
A good station, Warren Street, one of the few that I've actually been to.

Exhausting the Northern Line at this stage could prove folly.

Therefore I'll put in play a Compound Newtonian Apple Drop to Pimplico.

Ah-ha... back to Russell Square October 1997 and the option of a tripple Hookey!

I do love these temporal variations... the vintage 2012 championship really opened up the runnings for the casual player.

Pawn to King's Cross 4, using the Surrealist Doubletalk addendum approved in '79

was that the 1879 or 2079 addendum?

Anyway, unless I am VERY much mistaken, Pawns can only move "en passant" through Kings Cross during the school term, which voids the move.

I therfore take the option of the tripple hookey...

This obviously strands the game at Putney Bridge a week last tuesday, so I can only appologise to the next player who is forced to miss 3 turns unless they roll a double.
