I think the main problem I have at the moment is a lack of anyone new in the scene at the moment- it's the same old people, with pretty much the same roles all the time. There are minor shifts in interrelationships, but nothing major. The trouble is, I try to go to new clubs and places like that, but they tend to be places you go with people too, not where you go to meet new people. Quite aside from the fact that listening to the music at most of these places makes me want to commit homicide.

So, I suppose the solution is to try and check out the club scene for my sort of music in a different town. The only problem is transport and a place to stay.

Hmmm....

Yeah, I feel the same way when i'm in Exeter. I'm fine for a few months & then it all just gets really boring & predictable. Maybe some of us should try & get organised & go down to Plymouth sometime. Hardly exotic I know but at least it's a different place with different people & music.

Well...

If you want to see shifts in inter-relationships, you could try something new and exciting. If needs be, i'll provide transport and go to these new, scary places with you...

There's nothing quite like putting your life in my hands to give you a break from 'static reality'.

Bollocks! I met everyone I know in Exeter by turning up at the Casbar and the Bunker by myself a couple of years ago. Don't worry about going to places by yourself; it increases your chance of meeting people, I've found.

Yes, but I was actually referring to things like Timepiece, Rococco's etc. I already go to all the places like the Bunker that exist in Exeter. And it's always the same people.

Hence why I need somewhere new somewhere else...

Mmm. A couple of nice men talked to me in Timepiece once, and offered me some weed, so I can't say I've seen the hostile side of the place. But it depends on luck really. Keep trying!Maybe next time you go some friendly peeople will be there.

Ah, but you have, shall we say, a genetic advantage in the whole "meeting new people at random trendy clubs" thing...

I think that is a very good idea - it always gives you new impluses to meet new people - and sometimes you even might meet someone special you can get real good friends with. Or you simply have some fun time - and can enjoy being on your own again after that ;-)
So, go for it !

Unfortunately, I can't go for it for the forseeable future- at least not until my friend with some transport comes back to Exeter...

'Usually' is not 'always' dear chap!

Pick a weekend and maybe we can mosey on down to Plymouth, or some other suitably stinky city, and oggle at the beautiful people in some dark and dingy goth club. Sounds great....

A month or so. There may be the possibility of something earlier, but I'm not holding my breath...
