I've been offered a shot at a contract job- minimum £25/hour, 37 hours a week, for 5 weeks, plus likely extension if they like me. Only trouble is, it's in West Yorkshire. Now, with the ability to claim back on travel and accomodation, I'm wondering whether it's worth accepting it, then staying at a B+B during the week for the duration of the contract.

Obviously, there's a lot of reasons why this is less than ideal, but I only have till Monday morning to decide whether or not to put myself forward for this.

Thoughts?

Edit: Yep, I'll be going for it. Given the skill set, I reckon I have a good chance at it.

General agreement with every comment on here Mike; do it, good experience and good on the CV, plus likely good reference.

Where in West yorkshire? Big place that.

According to my maths, 25/hr for a 37 hour week gives you over £4,000 a month ... Frankly, I'd go for it, particularly if you can get travel and accomodation costs out of them.

And you can disappear from the job after the 5 weeks if you don't want to do it any more.

my thoughts dude, are ... do it. if it's a contract job you are only legally required to give 1 weeks notice. if you don't like it or the situation you can quit and come back to london. in the mean time, it's 5 weeks of fairly good money away from your current situation. a nice break. and will allow you to experience another part of the country.

plus south yorkshire probably means sheffield or somewhere like that so, we you can come and stay with me for a weekend and we can go do something crazy.

in the long term, 5 weeks is nothing and you'll be earning money. do it!

Sounds good. No commitments and good money. I mean, you could almost see it as paid holiday if you definately don't want to stay longer than the five weeks. And if you d like it, there's the possibility of longer employment, although I guess that's a bridge to cross if and when you get there...

I think

you should do it, if you don't like it you can quit after 5 weeks.
It'll be a new experience, a good pay and a recent job under your belt.
The last one will make it easier to find a job you like that's closer to home you know.

I know its tricky being away from home, especially when things are going well bud. But the pay is good, they are covering your costs and it will look good on your CV,
If its only for a little time you can leave if you dont get on with it after that period

Do it dude.
You've got nothing to lose.
If after the (very) short period you don't like it, you don't have to go back.
And it is VERY good money.

Aw, poor baby, you'll be inconvenienced. It's money, it's work, it's something to say you've been doing to other potential employers rather than sitting around maxing out your characters on World of Warcraft.

F**k me - £25/Hour - that's a pretty damn good wage! As has been said before - you really can't turn down that offer - even if it doesn't work out, you'll have a surplus of funds on your return to London.
