A good video can make a bad song bearable, or even enjoyable.

Discuss.

Edit: An example of this for me is the Linkin Park Points of Authority Reanimation Remix Video (the one with the cool cgi war going on).

Normally, I don't like this song at all, but when put to that video, it actually seems good.

Another example is Limp Bizkit's Rolling. I hate that song, but when put to a very well edited Anime Music Video, it's actually enjoyable.

Er, well.... maybe?

Can you think of any examples?
I see so few music videos that I can't really comment.

I'd agree with that. But a bad song doesn't get any better (or bearable) because of a good video. I couldn't simply listen to a bad song without the visuals. I could, however, bear a bad song that had really pretty images to look at - kinda like a good movie with the wrong soundtrack, I suppose.

Hmm, well, in the examples I've included, I actually like the song when it's accompanying the video's I've stated.

Okay...but the Limp Bizkit song wouldn't be something you'd add to you playlist, right? Outside the context of the video you'd probably not even remotely enjoy the song. So, really, the song itself doesn't get any better because of the video but you can bear listening to it on the strength of the video itself.

(I wish I'd seen the Rolling video so I could agree/disagree here but I avoid Limp Bizkit like anthrax - both the plague and the band.)

A very current example I can think of is Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" - visually nice and plays into my weakness for Alice In Wonderland type of themes...but I wouldn't listen to the song on it's own. Seems to fit the video, though. As a whole, enjoyable. Having watched it about a dozen times, I honestly couldn't tell you what the lyrics were or what the song was remotely about...but it is pretty to look at.

So, keeping with my previous analogy, this would be a good movie with an appropriate soundtrack.

Moral of the story? The larger your friends list, the less you should discuss personal taste.
