I think I'm going to create a combat alt at lunchtime when I go home, and start him training. Any tips for what to create, where, skill choices, etc...?

Depends on combat style. Gallente are good for using Drone-warfare, Caldari for E-warfare, Minmatar for sheer speed and Amarr for armoured lasery goodness

Probably go with Minmatar, since I already know the area...

Hang on - remember that you can only have ONE character learning skills at any one time, unless you actually buy two seperate accounts.

Seeing as you're so new and your main chara has barely started you may want to consider holding off. I know I am.
