Weekend overview

Friday was mostly uneventful. There were only two things of note. First, I ran my first Warlord tournament in London. which I placed last out of 7 in, but that's not really a problem, as it was an experimaental deck (proof of concept sort of thing), and I was up against honed decks played by good players.
Secondly, and more importantly, my copy of Pedestrian Wolves, by James Grant arrived. I ordered it mainly to support him, as I've always liked his comic work (He's the guy who draws Two Lumps and writes and draws Flem comics. I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it, as I didn't think it would necessarily be the sort of book I'd enjoy. 1 hour later, after having the literary equivalent of crack cocaine shoved through my veins, and having the back to reality comedown I get from really good fiction, I have resolved to buy anything else he gets published, because, damn, he can write. I was right, it wasn't the sort of book I'd normally buy or enjoy, and I loved it regardless. So, go now and buy it. (Be warned, adult content. But you're all big boys and girls, so that shouldn't matter to you, right?)
I have to say, that's the first time reading a book was a "thing of note" in my day- especially given how many of them I read.
Saturday was definitely fun. Around lunchtime, I headed up to Trafalgar square with my Alucard costume to take part in the Promenade of Vampires, which was very fun. We got told we couldn't stand around in the Square, so we headed off to Leicester Square, then to Forbidden Planet, then on through Covent Garden Market, and finally to Bat Boy. I got people recognising my outfit, and even had some specially asking to pose with me, which was nice.
After that, we went on to the Ben Crouch, where we were joined by the lovely
childhoods_hour- It was nice to be actually finally able to talk to her when I could hear myself think :-).
In the evening, I dragged myself away from the Ben Crouch, and headed over for the first Cam Vampire Requiem LARP, where my Jewish Mekhet Ordo Dracul Hematologist went down well, I think. Got some personality traits fixed, made some "new" friends (some of whom were actually old friends technically for my character, but since this is the first Requiem game, some fudging was necessary).
But it was very fun, and, conveniently, the Southwark game is just after Changeling every month, so I'll get to play two Requiem games a month easily.
And on the seventh day, I rested. :-)
Now back at work, and feeling reasonably good. Upcoming events include going to see
mistressbuffy tonight, my last sword training on Wednesday (I'm quitting to get back to proper martial arts), the monthly LVG meeting on Thursday at the Ben crouch (you know you want to go,
childhoods_hour...), and
mapp visiting on friday for the weekend.
So, a pretty busy week, all in all.
