I was just arguing about someone with someone tonight- why do so many people take Anne Rice's word as gospel on the whole vampire myth thing. I mean, it's not as if anyone really thinks Anne Rice is the gospel on the fictional creature known as the vampire...

It's probably just down to the whole thing that she's so well-known, and people do tend to latch onto that that they know.

Do you guys get annoyed when gamers want to play 'nice guy' vamps (like the guy from Interview... - Louis?) or 'nice guy' Drow (Drizzt)?

Yeah, but I don't think Bob Salvatore is that great an author, either :-)

I have about the same opinion of him as I do of Anne Rice- alright, but not worth the fuss people make over him...

Aye, I actually quite like some of Salvatore's work, annoyingly enough the earlier Drizzt stuff.
Never really been a huge Rice fan tho.

people are stupid. so many kids think that vampires can't go out in the suyn, but that was started with noseferatu films and is nothing to do with the original myth. people have little brains and get carried away with what sounds good. soon everyone will think that vampires are demons stuck in the blood stream. sigh. her first three books were so good, the rest sucked, its not worth basing ANYTHING on her when she wrote far more crap than good.
