Final thought for the day...

Is it better to strive for grand goals and only partly achieve them, or strive for small goals and succeed entirely?

Both. You need the latter to be able to try for the former, but both are valuable.

The first is more important for a lifetime. The second is more important for day-to-day sanity. I strive for a combination of both. :)

Ensure fulfilment of required notions coming from within. Without judging. Then they won't appear as either grand or small.

Or is it better not to strive for anything and just be happy you're not dead yet....

No.

Stop thinking. Live.

Oooh, hallo again Mr Anonymous. Still making with the Philosophy-Lite (tm) statements, I see :-).

Oh, and to respond, aside from being something of a trite statement, quite often when people stop thinking, it's shortly followed by them stopping living. Darwinism's a bitch...

Seriously.

Tis why I said "no" to the question posed "isn't it better to just strive for nothing and just be happy you're alive?"

I'd argue that if you never strive for anything again then you are already dead.

I'd go for the Grand Goals. Partial achievement is better than no achievement. The skill is in acknowledging the achievements you have made and using them to further your ambitions and your confidence. Agree with the comment above about a lack of judgement - it's always perspective that defines 'small' or 'large' achievements.

Oh, and yes, I have been drinking :-)
